It's all up to you
Yesterdays gave birth to today,
And today will also tomorrow,
Overwhelmed by drastic physical changes and intense emotions
That only time can help her recover,
At times, her child is color-blind,
And times her child is overjoyed with colors,
We are reborn to each day into constant change,
As was Benjamin Franklin into The Declaration of Independence,
As was Martin Luther King Jr. into the Civil Rights Movement,
As was Susan B. Anthony awakened to fight for the rights of women,
As we have today to marital status equality,
Yesterdays, todays, and tomorrows are made as different from one another
As we are from each other,
Yet, WE are in the same giving/re-birth cycle
Yesterday is quickly aging, today is being held in your arms, and tomorrow is developing in your womb
Time is on your hands, it is all up to you,
Would you rather raise your child with eyes to embrace the world’s colors?
Or let them fear its radiance and reside in black and white?
Time may be inevitable.
Change is constant.
But control is in your possession.
