"It's Because I Love You"
"It's because I love you" they say,
When they want things to go their way.
It's the lies they tell to make me believe,
'Till ultimately my self worth begins to decay.
I realize that I should soon leave,
Because they continue to decieve.
The darkness comes to take away the soul inside of me.
I eat the apple of Eve.
I break free from the Garden I now see,
To find someone who knows what I can be.
The path to trust is hard,
I have never known the world of "we".
I see him there beyond the yard,
I'd never met such a bard.
He invited me inside,
And gave me a sweet little card.
How can I abide,
To the soul that is my new-found guide
I see his constant light,
And by his integrity I will abide.
Because of him I see hope in the night,
He always contemplates what's wrong or right.
And as I fall asleep I ponder,
His words that help me reach the greatest height.
"It's because I love you" he says in wonder,
In the starlight night we walk asunder
He is my hope today,
He will save me from the thunder.
"It's because I love you" they say;
Their constant threat I always allowed to stay.
It's the lies they tell to make me believe,
But because of him, I walk away.
