It's Complicated
It’s complicated
Because I’m older now
And life has a way of showing me how even though we fall down, but we get up guilty or not
There are the after effects…peaches and cream, they are not
It’s complicated
Life has a way of hitting you back to back to back
Trust me, I know what it feels like to be attacked
I know what it’s like to struggle to clean out the skeletons in the closet…how in the world did they get there in the first place?
I know what it’s like to try to hide things from yourself because just you alone, without anyone knowing are embarrassed
It’s complicated
I know what it’s like to feel like you’re in a hurricane and if that doesn’t cause some strain…
That hurricane that comes when life has handed you a situation where your thoughts, your emotions, and your expectations collide head-on causing massive confusion
An inconvenient intrusion…I didn’t ask for this
I could elucidate it
But it would be hard to fully comprehend it
You’d just have to see it
Or better yet, just take my word and believe me when I say it’s complicated
I blessed
But it’s complicated
I’m thankful
But’s complicated
I’m spiritual
But it’s complicated
I go to church
But it’s complicated
I pay my tithes…Lord I pay my tithes
But it’s still complicated
I’m delivered, saved, set free
But it’s complicated
I’m still moving forward
But it’s complicated
And to think all this is orchestrated
So complexly it perplexes me
My only hope rest in the one we call The Almighty
It’s complicated
In case you were wondering,
This poem isn’t a fairy tale
It doesn’t have a magical ending
It really doesn’t have an ending at all
And the reason for that is because I’m still living
Still breathing
Still walking
Still talking
Still loving
Still caring
Still singing
Leaving fear going for the daring
But it’s complicated! My God it’s complicated!
No doubt those physical aches and pains were stress related
BUT I’M STILL HERE.
