It's just me.

Under the smile,
under the mascara,
the lipstick,
it's just me.

I laugh too loud,
I sing out of tune,
I'm shy,
I get scared.

I'm weird,
I read too many books.
I'm quiet.
I spend my lunches alone.

People look at me like I'm crazy,
But I won't conform to the expectations of normality.

Underneath the tears,
under the dry skin,
the chapped lips,
it's just me.
