It's A Mad World

It’s A Mad World

Out there in the light

I want no part in it

Time to say goodnight

Wake me up

In a year or two

Pull the sheets back

When the world is new

Stop my dreams

When it’s worth the wake

Open my eyes

When there’s no more ache

Until then

Let me sleep

Don’t make a move

Talk is cheap

Cover me up

Kiss me goodnight

Tuck me in

And turn off the light

I want to say goodbye

But not permanently

I want to be alone

But not eternally

So I’ll just close my eyes

And drift away

To dream of you

On a perfect day

Wake me up

 In a decade or so

 When the world is warm

And the sun still low

Open your arms

And tell me good news

Until then, let me rest

For a century or two
