It's a Man's World
Pots and pans all around
Yet her thoughts are elsewhere found
Within the magic of books and math
No, no, no we cant have that
Even if she were to learn
Only one role would she truly earn
“It's a man's world”
She wonders, “How can that be?”
“Is it not the 21st century?”
“It's a man's world” she is told
We are wise, as we are old
Listen now, listen well
For then your in-laws will think you swell
Yes you may be pretty, you may be smart
But even housework is an art
Clean clothes, do the dishes
That's your job, you'd best listen
It's a man's world
If he helps that's his credit
But its your duty & responsibilty.
Dont you see?
They run the world,
While home is the place for you and me
So of course you can work
But make sure its part time
For a job can wait,
Not cooking is the real crime
“It's a mans world”
So learn now, learn fast
Your good impression must last
We dont want talk
We cant bear to hear
In-laws whispering complaints in our ear
“It's a man's world”
You'd best start to mold
Stop looking at others
We know best, as did our mothers
Of course we want you to study
And do well, that is true
But at the end of it all
Forget trying to “stand tall”
Leave that to your husband to be
Home is the place for you and me
Sick and tired of these terrible lies
My life is mine, for me to decide
You may think that you know
Ancient thoughts, time to let go
It may not seem so and yet
Give it some time, time to set
For we do not live in a world
That is so partially owned
Long has passed the era of thrones
We shall wake up and start a new
Not man's or woman's...your world belongs to you.
