It's Mine!

Poetry has been apart of my life ever since I can remember. My mother wrote a wide range of poetry as well as short stories. She got one of her poems published. That is when I was truly inspired to pick up the pen. I have always been better at expressing myself in writing. When I was younger, my family members use to tell me that I wrote the most beautiful words in birthday cards. Writing was how I got through a lot of hurt that I experienced as a child.  Writing was and still is my voice. In my writing i can come off as mean or as nice as i want. there is no one constantly telling me don't do that or you can do this. its mine! A lot of times, society believes that poetry has to rhyme or follow a certain structure. I believe that poetry is simply allowing your heart to be poured out through the pen onto paper.

Music and writing have been apart of my life since I was a little girl. My mom was a poet as well, just before she passed away she was in the process of getting a short book of poems published. I just use my words to encourage other people. I love to write about what I feel, what I have been through and also about my dreams.
