It's Mine

My eyes are closed

And so many thoughts

Dreams

Worries

Are swirling sporadically

And sometimes stressfully

Around my energizer bunny of a mind

But with a sharpened pencil

Some leaflets of paper

There are endless possibilities of creations

And I am free

No wrong answers

No idea too obscure

No topic off limits

I'm in control

And I get to choose

But that's only a small part

A sliver

Does it bring me happiness? Yes

Joy? Of course

And love? Absolutely

But those too are mere slivers

There's this special quality

A feeling

More blissful and beautiful than can be articulated

It's that feeling that keeps me going

That lets me know I'm not crazy for wanting this

It's that feeling that I created something,

It's there because of me,

It came from me,

And it's mine.

I suppose everyone has that one thing

That gives them this wonderful feeling

It can come in any form at all

Some sing.

Some dance.

Some run.

But I

I write.
