"but it's not that day"

They ask me why in Lord's name I care

They ask why I remember

I don't know how they could possibly dare

Not keep them in their prayers

They ask why my heart is heavy and I cried

They ask why I bother

I don't know if they don't remember those who died

For them

For he

For you

For she

For us

But it's not that day, they say

Memorial day is over and done

I sit in my bed at night and pray

For those who no longer get to see the sun

Bravery has been shown

Blood has been shed

Determination made their own

Too many gone, too many dead

I won't forget those who fought for our country

The beautiful US of A

It's my duty to remember then and now

Every single God given day
