It's Not Just The Dark

Lights off,

I cannot see anything

So why is it that only now is when I see everything?

I see the man standing behind the door

He judges me endlessly

And I hear the devil on my shoulder as he whispers in my ear thoughts that never occured to me

I do not know why but for some reason he seemed to convince me that everything I've ever known to be true is a lie

I open my eyes to a world full of darkness

And I turn on the light

The light that masks all the threats that everyone around me poses

I sit up in my bed and I tell myself

The darkness can only get to me if I let it

So I go back to sleep

This time, with the lights on
