Its Not Love

It's love, he claimed

As he pushed me on my bed

Without my consent

“ It's what lovers always do”

He explained as a cried the hopeless word “no”

“If you love me then you would set me free”

He lashed out, when I found girl’s numbers on his phone

“It's so you can learn your lesson”

He tried to cover up the reason for the bruises he gave me.

“ I only do it because i love you”

He said calmly, after yelling at me violently

And i watched him pick out my clothes,

And him lurking through my phone

“So no other boy will touch you”

I bet you kiss your knuckles right before they hit my cheek

Because you always you claim you love me after you bring me down

It's my heaven, my hell, because i'm under your spell

Your words are bitter but you liars are sweeter

That's why i keep coming back, hoping you will change

Because i keep falling for your “ because i love you”s

Even though it's not love.
