It's not Love

He's a drunk

he has affairs

He comes home and screams at my mother

He yells, and screams

I hide from him

Hold onto my little brother

Tell him to not worry

We see him hit my mother

They fight

He leaves

He doesn't come for a while, and I'm glad.

I hear my mother cry at night

I look out my window

The moon is bright and beautiful

I kiss my brother on his cheek

I hear her cry again, but I don't say anything.

I think about everything that we've been through

All those scary nights

It's not fair, he's just a kid

I don't understand why she's still with him

Why she allows him to hit her

To hit us

She tells me she loves him

I tell her that's not love

My mother started drinking again

He hasn't come back

We didn't eat dinner last night

One day I'll get us out of this place, because I love you

Someday we'll be happy, and the suffering will stop

Someday...we won't be scared to come home

Someday, we'll be loved.

Someday will come.
