It's not Love
He's a drunk
He has affairs
He comes home and screams at my mother
He yells and screams
I hide from him
Hold onto my little brother
I tell him not to worry
We see him hit my mother
They fight
He leaves
He doesn't come home for a while and I'm glad
I hear my mother cry at night
I look out my window
The moon is bright and beautiful
I kiss my brother on his cheek
It's not fair, he's just a kid
I hear her sobbing, but I don't say anything
After a while she tells me she loves him
I tell her that's not love
I tell her I hate him
I don't understand why she allows him to hit her
to hit us
She starts drinking again
We didn't eat dinner
My brother looks at me
I tell him I love him
I tell him that one day I'll get us out of there
Someday we'll be happy, and the beating will stop
Someday we won't be scared to come home
Someday we'll be loved
Someday will come.
