It's not when he
It's not when he hides his phone at the dinner table or
tells you she's just a friend.
It's not the remarks he makes under his breath after
you spill your water and people turn to look.
It's not being around people and having to cover up
your bruised forearm where he "accidentally" pulled you too hard.
It's when his eyes grow wide with concern because
you jumped during the scary movie.
It's when he goes 20 minutes in the opposite direction so
you don't have to walk home alone.
It's when you walk into the same room hes in and
you feel safe, like you're home.
It's not the words and texts, the needs, the reassurances or the momentary comfort.
It's the actions, the reactions, the wants, and it's being comfortable at all times.
