It's Nothing
With the thump of the bass bumping through my headphones
And the screech of electric guitar making its way through my ears
The music I've been listening to,
floating through my head for years.
Every day this beat has been,
apart of my soul.
I dread the time when I lose it for even simply a day.
I'd like to say I couldn't go without
But really,
how would I know?
Every day I've plugged in my headphones and felt my heart rise with the notes.
I was never forced to say down to the ground.
Even if only for a single moment,
I've had that joy that's made me soar.
I cannot sit and say there's a single thing I can't live without
I've never been forced to see that through,
to suffer without the one thing I say I would die without.
Truly
how can anyone even know then,
If it's something we can't live without?
We are still living
We are still breathing
No one can know what they can't live without
It would be a lie
to say
that you do.
Until there's that gravestone marked
"died from lack of music"
then it remains a mysery,
besides those simple basics,
of what we can not live without.
