It's Okay to be ME
It’s Okay to be ME
It’s okay to be me
as I was once told
when i was being judged
just for standing out and being bold.
I look at myself then
all shy and all weak
as I look at me now
for being proud to be a freak.
I used to be quiet
and almost afraid of the world
I realize that as you get older
it’s okay to unfold.
Now I am strong
and faced challenges some could not imagine
like loosing my father
who now is in heaven.
If I didn’t have friends
and the family support
I wouldn’t be able to live my life
in an organized sort.
I’ve been taught to be more happy
and to live my life well
because I realize right now
I used to be living under a shell.
I used to just live in the present
but now I thrive for my future
to become successful
and to be a teacher.
I pray that God continues to keep me healthy
as I success throughout my day
including nighttime and sports
where I rest and play.
I am strong and independent
and no one can take that away from me
because as I was once told
It’s okay to be ME!
