It's Over

The sunset never looked so pretty,
until I watched it next to you.
And the stars never shone so brightly,
until I watched them in your eyes.
Because life...
it was dull before I met you.
Now,
life is vibrantly colored
but also painfully real.
There are
disappointments
and goodbyes
and "I'm sorry"'s.
There are
unresolved feelings
cleverly hidden to keep us friends.
You'll find another,
and she will love you far better than I ever could.
She will twist the sheets.
I will continue to
lose faith
in true love and happily ever afters.
I can look for another boy
who calls me darling,
plays with my hair,
and touches the center of my palm
as delicately as calloused fingertips will allow;
but
he won't be half as sweet as you
or half as toxic.
It's over.
It's over.
It's over.
Please don't find another.
My fragile heart won't take it.
I swear I will love you right
or die trying.
But
it's over.
It's over.
It's over.
