It's a Strong Word
Love,
"It's a strong word."
I practice abstinence with the word,
saving it for only the deserving.
I could never understand
the ones who throw around the word;
The girls with a new boy toy every other week;
I love you,
Three simple words with a meaning greater than life;
Eight letters.
I like;
I like thunderstorms,
I like cold nights and bundles of blankets,
I like sitting on the outside,
looking inside.
I like clean shoes and tight pants,
I like soft hair and the color purple,
I like fresh coffee,
I like fat cats and old dogs,
I like the shape of your nose,
I like worn hads that tell a story,
I like the sound of a fan,
I like carpets and microwave popcorn,
I like lotion and hot showers,
I like that I have the freedom to express myself
through words,
and to choose what to say and do.
I choose to save my love;
I'm saving it for you.
Because one day I will love you, too.
And when I do,
you'll have all the love I've set aside for you.
But for now I choose to like;
God knows I like;
I pray that you like too.
