Before It's Too Late

Just when I thought we were safe, Something strange happened. You see, we were friends; We were cool, young, We were unstoppable. I never thought drugs would be your downfall. We had it all. Just graduating high school, With a whole future ahead of us. What happened? Why did I escape the suction Of the drug infestation on these cruel streets, While you fell in deep? No; drugs weren't supposed to Take over your life. Drugs don't pay the bills. Drugs don't bring you happiness. You escape for a few hours, And then you go try to Find a couple of dollars to get another fix. Get it together. I cry for you, And what you have become. I try to be strong, When the rest of your loved ones are weak. I'm tired of holding on, To what are just memories of what A beautiful person you used to be. Friend, I'm begging you; This isn't the person you are. While you think it's helping you, It's actually hurting you. And it's hurting me, too. It's hurting everyone rooting for you. Open your eyes to what you could have; To everything you could be. Don't even try to wait. I'm not willing to lose you, Not right now. Believe in yourself, Because I believe in you. Do it now, Before it's too late.
