It's You

I am afraid to love you...

It's so familiar in ways that only make sense to my subconscious. It's comfortable, it's harmonious, it's so natural. It's not forced or rehearsed; It's as easy as breathing.

I thought my walls were strong and unbreakable, but I misunderstood my strength.

My words and my thoughts aren't making sense, my tongue is tied.

I can feel it building up, rising with every beat my heart makes. My body is trembling, but not from fear, it's from the knowing.

My soul feels safe, steady and the world around me is hushed.

My mind feels safe from conflict. For once there is clarity.

Am I drifting or am I falling? Is this what it means to lose control?

Or has a war with my heart been set into motion?

I am awakened, pulled back to reality.

The sound of your voice helps me find my way back to you.

Its chords and harmonies have the wind dancing on my skin.

Why am I afraid? My mind is perfectly safe.

My soul is settling into its element.

This feeling is so comforting.

Your fingers weave through mine, sending my body and soul to a place of closeness.

I can feel your soul sway with mine.

My heart ignites, my eyes finally recognize what's been absent.

If I let you in, there is no telling what my heart might find.

It's the untelling desires that linger near.

That is why I am afraid to love you...

That is why I can not let myself love you.
