It's For Yourself and No One Else
A dream job can come to some
So quick and fierce that
It’s just meant to happen.
It becomes an immediate,
Instant way of life.
It’s like learning to walk,
It’s just meant to happen.
Then there’s that handful
Where it can take a little extra
Time, hesitation, or reconsideration
To get it right.
It’s like making friends,
It can take a little extra work
To get it right.
Then there are the rest of us
And myself included.
We hop from place to place
Getting closer and closer to that
Final decision resulting
In an ending celebration.
It’s like playing the board game
Of Life; it takes a lot of moving forward
To earn that winner’s gloat.
Step one is complete, done, and over with
But in no means are we done yet.
Now there is a strive for
Bracings, nails, and hammers
To keep that dream from crumbling
Step two can change your mind
Or push you forward like a rocket.
Will you get that support you crave
From the people you need it most?
Will that urge to join in your journey
Become a reality or a lost thought?
For me it immediately became an easy victory,
An immediate weight lifted off my shoulders.
My dad, honest and practical
Smiled and glowed with pride
And satisfaction written all over his face.
My mom, sincere, honest, and realistic
Had that sound in her voice that
Every daughter knew was a way of
Saying, “I knew I raised her right.”
I explained the purpose of CADD
To my love ones with pure confidence.
The limitless possibilities CADD would
Bring to the world, opening new
Doors to new technology, progress
And competition Human beings constantly crave.
I love making new things through computers
Because everything was custom made by ME.
It can be as simple as a mechanical pencil
Or something incredibly complex
Like a custom made sports car.
The projects I’ll create are one of a kind
And that is exactly how I like it.
The fact of the matter is,
A dream job is chosen by individuals
According to one’s own personality,
Likes and dislikes and not what
Others expect of you but what
You expect from your own self.
It’s what defines ourselves for who we are
And not what society expects us to be.
