"It's A Zoo" by Shannon Ryan

Location

Turtles from Madagascar

Marmosets from South America

A Noah’s ark of endangered species

Sinking under the weight of the elephants.

Captured from traffiikers

Seized from smugglers

Tigers, leopards and

Over capacity.

Screaming monkeys

biting bars of oppression,

Befuddled bears shoved

into crowded stockades.

The lion cubs

Face life in captivity

Over two decades in cages

among bamboo grooves.

Their neighbors?

Abandoned Orangutans.
