It’s Dark from This Side of the Closet
There's this voice inside of my head reminding me that I'm not dead
Taunting me and telling me that it isn't easy to be this way
And with every time you try to say
What you see and how you feel
The voice tells me it isn't real
These fences overcome me
They built and overpower thee
They scold and recognize me
Because though these demons are in my head
Some things are better left unsaid
If you're not hasty you'll end up dead
And it keeps telling me
That every word and every thought, they were all completely lost
That these concepts and ideas forced into my mind
Were just barbed wire keeping me behind
Keeping me from loving you back
I wanted to be the one to hold your hand
But I knew these thoughts wouldn't let me stand
Because they keep telling me
And suddenly it stops
The ringing in my ear
The voice I longed to hear
The silence throws me down
Deep through the waters edge
And then I hear the sound
And once again I reappear
It's always the same game
