I've Been Here Before

I've been to this island before I've cried here I've pulled at my hair here I've buried myself in the sand here I've left this island before I climbed out of the grave I dug for myself The sand fell away from my body with a half prayer half statement “I want to live” “I want to get better.” So I built a boat from my own bones And I wove a sail from my fraying heartstrings I was pulled to shore by every “I love you” When I go back to that island I will keep those “I love you”s in my chest And my boat at the dock I will always get back home.
