I've been a lot of people

I’ve been a lot of people

In my life time

But I never stopped being me

And I’ve tried many times

To run away from myself

But it seems it’s who I’m meant to be

And I read somewhere

In some book whiles back

That it’s got something to do with destiny

That the whole world conspires

And never grows tired

Of putting you places it thinks you ought to be

And I get it now

What I didn’t back then

When I thought the world was just being mean to me

When I cursed at the skies

Through puffy red eyes

And slumped around feeling dreadfully

It’s got something to do

With these people I’ve been

And how I never saw myself clearly

If I had seen myself right

I would have known from the start

I was exactly who I actually wanted to be

I am exactly who I've always been and yet I'm so different from who I was before.
