Ivory and Ebony

Her right, it’s charm gleaming with trust of a ebony man

But to her left simplicity, does not blind, of a ivory man

Endless stardom and wealth sings from the ebony man

Though no fandom courses through the ivory man, for there is no appeal for this light

The ebony man vowed a ring promising the world itself

And the ivory man bestowed a ring never letting a promise be spoken

Those words of the ebony man were unyielding

While the fleeting words of the ivory man drifted candidly

Two rings from both a ebony and ivory man

A reminder of what herself once had with the ebony man

His nervousness and passionate gaze as he professed his love

The wave of news when the world discovered word of the ebony man’s woman

Brilliance, laughter and revelation filled the room, the world was given to her as promised

Yet what herself also had with the ivory man

Was ravishing

Every moment unplanned with him seemed uncanny

He never backed down when he disclosed his attraction to the woman

Life altered the woman, her world is left with remembrance

Trapped between a ebony man and a ivory man

A choice, that seemed simple in thought, she knew not what to do

Her voice could never unravel the truth of what was perceived

That sheer adornment for the ebony man had ceased being

Only to lead up to the impulse of the ivory man’s enamoring character

Reverberating victorious and lucid

The ivory man conquered the heart of the woman

Abandoning the pathetic ebony man

Left the woman too

Kissing the face of pleasant sunlight went a ivory man

Heartbreak kissed the face of a ebony man filled with wretchedness

Mercy arose across her

A promise forged of devoted love

Kept the ebony man from falling apart

But from never knowing the truth

Of her love of a ivory man
