I’d Give Compassion
If I could change one tiny thing,
I’d change the world anew.
I’d displace all the bitterness
And thoughts that run askew.
I’d give compassion to the hearts
that lack it in this world.
Though food may gladden the hungry,
They still may feel oppressed.
But if the world felt compassion,
They’d help all those distressed.
I’d give compassion to the hearts
that lack it in this world.
Though money helps the stricken poor,
Love’s what money can’t buy.
Don’t you think they’d rather receive
Gifts not forced from some guy?
I’d give compassion to the hearts
that lack it in this world.
The wars that rage across the seas
Don’t hasten to an end,
But maybe they could if each state
Would treat the rest as friends.
I’d give compassion to the hearts
that lack it in this world.
