I’ve Learned to Love

Because of you I’ve learned that love is possible.

The endearing moments that brighten my day

the smile I receive as I wave goodbye

the simplistic kiss as I say good night.

Love that brings me warmth as I’m trapped in the darkness

until a shadow of lights arrives to set me free.

Love that admires my failures as a beautiful piece of art

as every blink is an eternity.

Because I love, I must recognize that I may be blind

as a feather falls silently on the floor

my love for you will flourish.

But I may not have seen what was truly there.

The breath of air, the gasp for life

you bring me closer to a love I have not encountered before.

A love so pure and precious

a love I wouldn’t have known before.
