Jabberwocky Slays an Innocent

I close my eyes

Take a breath

And realize

I must be falling

Falling

Falling

My feet are off the ground

I must be falling

Falling

Falling

Can’t you feel that rushing sound?

But I still stand here

Stuck in the stillness

Around me

Lost in this sea of me

The slow tide to draw

But we’re standing in the snow

Two pools of green

To forget all that I know

Now my arms are around me

I’m lost in the open

Consumed in this place

A vacancy

In my hand

A silent plea

To tower like the trees

I close my eyes

Take a bite

And realize

I must be Growing

Growing

Growing

My head is up in the clouds

I must be Growing

Growing

Growing

What is this nonsense I’ve found?

Dare I leave

Through the open door

Mocking me?

I’ll find a writing desk

Or a raven

They’re both the same to me

Something just to keep

This Absolute-ly smokey memory

(I swear I see doubles)

(Is it two or is it three?)

Underneath the translucent trees

Where the leaves fall

Through the open window

Surrounding me

Consumed in a blizzard

Of green

Looking at them

And they to the sea

Lost in a photograph

A faded memory

Of anything that we can be

Take the photo that I’m lost in

And if you care to see

Unbend the tiny corner

‘Cause Darling

I miss you and me

Where sunbeams so radiant

Are melted by the snow

And the branches catch the wind

To set the night aglow

I would never stop to think

What this Wonderland could be

I’ll hide beneath this hat

Waiting for you to just come and find me

But… I must be going mad

So first,

let’s

Dine on the moonlight

And have a cup of sunset

There is not time for tea

Before this starts to make

Any sense

Let’s bask in the warm glow

Of the trees

‘Cause everything is simply

A perfect misgiving

When you’re with me

And when the time that comes too soon

Is Fraptious by the days

We sing a happy tune

And time is set ablaze

I will remember the times

With moments unbroken

I’ll read between the lines

I’ll hear the words that are unspoken

I won’t be the same

When I awake

For I was different than I am today

I hope I’m growing

I must be growing

I’m growing

Into what?

I’m growing

Growing

Growing

I'm growing up…
