For Jack, With Love
You didn’t have to be my friend
At first you weren’t
You would talk to me when you noticed I was fading out of a conversation
or was unceremoniously left out of a conversation
I think you felt guilty
But then something changed
We had things in common
More than expected
More than either one of us expected
And then a bond was formed
Something deep and pure
Not clouded by the opinions of those around us
Not affected by the drama around us
Accident is what brought you into my life
but for some reason, you’re one of the few that has chosen to stay
Jack, you are something else that is entirely new to me
You are quick wit, dark humor, and bed head embodied
I can’t wait to see where life takes us
Hopefully it takes us far…
With love,
