Jail cell
Their hands reach for me pulling me back into my jail cell
I try to break free, but I know that this cell which confines me
is the only hope I have
So, eventually I just let them pull me
I want so bad to think creativly
to inspire to be inspired,
but first I need to get hired.
and to get hired I need this cell.
Funny thing is,
This cell confines more than just me
you see, My peers live in this cell with me
This cell was created by
society and a corupt government that only cares about money and publicity
You see, this cell that now defines me is school and education
but get this straight about me
I don't blame the teachers but I do blame bad policies
Get this, we are forced to believe that a letter grade determines our future
And the kid with adverage grades is looked over
but they have more potiential but can't live to standards becuase they test horribly.
Wait,
That kid is me
We are confined yet again by this cell
Kids with learning disabilities are deemed "unfit" for classrooms,
and are put in seperate classrooms
Yet, they are the smartest and kindest people you will ever meet
You see, our "criteria" is made by people who never step foot in a classroom
yet they get paid more money
Education is important yes of course I agree
But have you seen these cells
escuse me
"I mean classrooms"
Teachers are under paid to teach in poor conditions
witha a lack of supplies
and kids like me
"wanting to learn not finding the gap to do so"
The cell "I mean schools" fell like a factory
It is believed that everybody learns the same therfore we are tuaght the same
this ani't no wall street.
The person next to me is not me
quit assuming we know the same things
I am like a cheettah in math but a snail in spanish
don't expect me to excell in spanish like the dude next to me
no wonder some are afraid to think
we are to to sit in straight rows
raise our hands when we want to speak
and don't even think you'll have time to go and take a leak
Then the bell rings
things becomes a daily routine
A prison "i mean school" schedule with only 15-30 mins to eat
Our minds are jailed into not thinking outside of the box
arts and theater with such little funding
You see, society and the government have drawn these lines
making a prison out of something once fun
we feel trapped between being afraid and to timid to speak or think
we now fear for our saftey
so as I enter my cell once more know this,
SOON WE WILL BE HEARD AND SOON WE WILL BREAK FREE!!
