Jam
It’s when I see someone else- with a guitar in their hand
It’s when I see the bassist- in a two-person band
It’s when a single drops- ‘cause the album got canned
It’s when my friends ask me to jam
I could be more smooth
I could practice more often
Learn the scales, to no avail, someone else will always be better.
I’m not trying to ‘beat’ you as a musician
I’m trying to see you like a friendly competition
What inspires me are the friends I know
We share the same interests and similar egos
Some rich, poor, young, old, practicing over and over again
There's no reason I shouldn't be as good as them.
