and o how he envied the stars.
for ev’ry night they would widen his eyes,
stain his skin,
and trace his veins with their
phosphorescent fingers and static palms.
o how he longed to walk among them and
disappear behind their veiled auras.
his hunger was so consuming
and his thirst for their infinites was so strong
that in the end he joined them.
but o he drove too recklessly.
