January 10th

And I don't know if I'll ever forget that day. Running and falling in the hallway so I could tell my mom before the cops did The way my mom sobbed in the car The steady flow of silent tears that poured all day. The way I shook whenever i thought if anything, The look on my sister's faces. The way sarah hugged me sobbing and said she loved me, How emily cried when I told her. And if I somehow do forget, The one thing that will stick with me forever Is the phonecall I was forced to have with you in the car. Where I told you I loved you, as one last reach searching for a sign, waiting for a reply and the only reply I had was the static of the phone, and my sobs. i can't get it out of my head, it replays like a scratched record Looping the same moment in time, As if I'm stuck there. Yes I know it's for the better, But I can't help but think what I've lost And I can't help but feel a weight of sadness on my chest Weighing me down more than any secret ever could.
