January Nineteenth

Location

I lost a day a few weeks back

It slipped right through the cracks

Of time

I think I found it again, in mask

But want it cemented, at last,

in rhyme.

January Second slipped away

And took, I think, a holiday

In Greece.

It returned before the nineteenth day

Could entirely fade away

In peace

January Nineteenth, in Hong Kong last,

Was awakened by the sun running its path

Through sky

And in Korea, the Nineteenth’s final blast

Was marked by the sun’s setting wrath

In flight

After sunset came sunrise

And yet somehow, to my surprise,

It came:

The second Nineteenth day did rise

To mysteriously greet my eyes

And wave.

I lost a day a few weeks back

It slipped right through the cracks

Of time

I found it here again, in mask

And want it cemented, at last,

in rhyme.
