Dear Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,
I will be telling you about a very touching memoir that I had in my past life. Yes everyone, I’m dead, don’t have to freak out. Unfortunately, this memoir isn’t a very pleasant one. This memoir tells the love that I strongly had for a special someone who had passed away shortly before me. Thank you and enjoy the story. (Blackout and theater is silent)
(Lights re-appear to find the theater with a five-foot photo of Jason, on center I’m found next to it)

This five-foot person is Jason, and he was my special someone.
(Walking downstage )
Here,....here….. was the first time we met. He was 18 and I was 17 and we both were at the Winter Garden Theater watching the premiere of “School of Rock” on Broadway. While watching the show, I spotted a great looking man. This man had crazy wavy Puerto Rican hair and his jawline was sharp. After the show; I decide to be bold and speak to the fine man; I asked him about his thoughts on the show. Jason, which was his name, explained to me his thoughts on the show, and kid you not with five minutes speaking, I was already hypnotized. I felt his passion for music and theater, that it was just unbelievable to witness. “The Three Staves,”musical which tells the story about three wooden drunken men, was my favorite production to talk to Jason about. As the weeks increased and we began hangout more and more, our friendship got stronger. It was not till one day when Jason messaged me saying “ He liked me and he wanted to go out with me.” (Audience oohs) I didn’t believe him at first until he delivered me flowers with a note that read, “here are flowers to my future man.”( Audience claps and cheers) So we became a thing. We dated for five years, and those five years were the best five years of my life. It felt as if I was playing wheel of fortune and I would constantly win jackpot l (I reenact this and the audience laughs). What was so special about Jason was that throughout our time as a couple, he always made sure to give me all of his attention and love. I remember having personal conversations about family issues and dealing with my anxiety, and he would purposely make time out of his day to talk to me about them. Till this day I smile in memory of them. Everything was great until one day I got a phone call saying Jason was in the hospital because of an asthma attack that occurred here at his family's Spanish Deli. I asked his mom if I could speak to him and thankfully she offered to. “Here he is,” she whispered on the phone awakening Jason from a nap. “How do you feel Jas,”I said. Jason who can barely take in a deep breath said,” Much better….how are you.” “I’m good now that I know you're ok.” “ I’m scared,” said Jason. “ I’ve had many other asthma attacks, but not like this one. I don’t know if I’ll be able to make it.” “Listen, you’ll be ok, you’ll get through this, don’t worry. Your family and I are right here to help you.” Jason began to weep and I too began to weep, imagining his blue-eyed face under all that stress. “While being under all that equipment I was so frightened. I decided to think of you in order to calm my nerves; I came up with this poem about you,” said Jason. “ Really, tell me about this poem won’t you.” Ok, he said. “I’m grateful to have you. You have been with me from the toughest and longest moments in my life. Our relationship is so unique that no merchant selling us gold can ever pull us apart. Not even the Greek Gods, with their powers and strict beliefs, can separate our strong bond. We are atoms of happiness, samples of the Lord’s greatness....this thing we have is real love. Love that makes one stay up all night thinking of the other. Love that makes you write one card, two cards, five, ten in one day about all the great things that make up the other person. We have real love. Love which is seen as blank and fake to the arrogance but visible to the believers. You are my love, and I love you.” ( the audience clap and I wait for silence). The next day Jason passed away and although his death is still something devastating to remember, I’m glad I was able to be with him for the last time. I’m also grateful that he was my lover for a long time in my life. My times with him were some of the most greatest moments in my life. Before Jason ever entering my life I was depressing and awkward to be with. I was so afraid of change and experiencing failure. Thanks to Jason, I learned the importance of failures and learning from them. I learned that life may have it’s ups and downs, but I shouldn’t let them stop me from being happy. In memory of him, I wrote this poem about our love together. (Begins to read the poem) “ What carries me out of bed was his love. The love that continued on even when his back was empty. These memoirs which I am forbidden to throw away, cradle me every night and day. I still see him, my future, my passion the one I do not recall hurting, me in this lifetime.I find him, still with me, in my heart. The story of the hanged man down the block, no longer inspires me to do the same. Fear of living ,and accepting death no longer comforts my system. Even as I cry ,by the pictures of him , the water that falls from my face forms a puddle ,where I can finally see him, Jason. Thank you everyone for listening to my story. I had a great (Interrupted by a tap on the shoulder by Jason. I begin crying and hugging him. The audience applauds and the stage goes to a blackout)
(I take a bow, thank my stage crew)
