Jaybird
Dear Jaybird,
My how you flew, so grand and true,
From an egg, you came, of the darkest blue.
A magnificent beast unmatched in power,
In vigor and youth with the growing spring flowers.
My how you've grown, but alas you have left,
In search of a world with no pain or theft.
Months it's been since my eyes have seen,
Your feathers shine and your body sheen.
Out with the wind, they say, that's where you've gone,
But here I stay, waiting for your dawn.
Your song still stuck between my ears,
I hope that one day you will come near.
Oh, Jaybird! How I miss you, with your chirps and whistles
Through my darkest hours, through the thorns and thistles.
You flew by my side and never faltered,
But now I sit alone, pained and altered.
My light, you were, with beauty and sight.
I wish to one day go to you and take my flight.
Your Friend,
J
