Jeff the Hunter
Once upon a time there lived a young boy named Jeff. Jeff was a happy child. He loved playing with animals. Jeff wanted to be a veterinarian. Jeff’s father, however, was an avid hunter and insisted on Jeff following in his footsteps. Jeff consistently told his father that he loved animals and would prefer not to take part in such activities. Jeff’s father refused to oblige and continually took Jeff dove hunting and to the shooting range. After every hunting trip, Jeff was devastated. His father continually trained Jeff to be an amazing hunter. Once Jeff was in his teens, he finally gave into his father’s demands and kept the family tradition of hunting. Jeff would always go hunting to please his father. It was a simpler life than fighting him every fall about such a small piece of life. When Jeff turned 18, his father took him deer hunting for the first time. Jeff would never actually fire a gun until his father told him to do so. Jeff was simply relaxing in the woods, when he sees a deer. He is aware that if his father sees this deer, then he will have to take a shot. Well, inevitably as the avid hunter he is, his father tells Jeff to look, aim, and shoot the deer. Jeff hasn’t spent that much time actually shooting so he figures there is no way he make the shot from this distance. Jeff lines up the deer and pulls the trigger. The deer screeches. Jeff actually made the shot. How could he have killed this innocent animal? His father is cheering and hugging Jeff. He is so excited. Jeff on the other hand is depressed. Jeff is now a murderer. What if that deer had a family? What has Jeff done? Little does Jeff know that he just killed a fawn’s mother. Later that fawn would be known as Bambi…
