The Job...That Will Change My Life

Ever since I was little,

I dreamed about being a teacher.

I'd hang out with friends and we'd hold 'class'

I'd be the teacher, assign 'homework', 'teach' lessons, 'grade' worksheets.

Throughout the years I've made lists,

noted how I want to decorate MY classroom,

written down bits of wisdom/advice/hints,

that I've learned from my previous educators.

Ms. H, Mr. Johnson, Ms. McKay, Mr. Javitch-

just a few of the names of the teachers who've pushed me.

Made me realize that my dream job IS being an

guide

teacher.

Fast forward to college at UC Santa Cruz.

There was a teacher/student disconnect

-(with classes the size of 150)-

but I still strove towards my educating goal.

Majoring in Literature,

reading about the greatest teachers,

excersing my brain as my students would be excersing theirs,

got me excited, inspired, ready.

Two years of learning about great poets, writers, educators and their students.

Now I'm hoping to attend USF,

to be a part of their acclaimed teaching program,

to become the eduactor I should be.
