Jocasta's life

Bringing news of my son's prophecy
Wanting not its verity
He'll kill his dad marry me
This our first asperity

I bound your feet, sent you away
Which left its "mark of shame" (pg 58)
But you came back home astray
To gain your family's name

With my husband dead and you now King
And much to our dismay
You gave me, your mother, a marriage ring
The prophecy we display

I knew the truth of your birth
All in one location
I had the knowledge but not the mirth
Within this revelation

I could not watch you see the truth
To know of our damnation
And if you hadn't been a sleuth
I needth no salvation
