On a Journey

I went on a journey to find love,

but I found volence

and blood

and hands that only caressed what they bruised.

I went on a journey to find true love,

and I found pages of books

and the smell of coffee

in cozy, small spaces.

I went on a journey to find true love,

and I found fields and faraway houses

and stars that city lights

could never comprehend.

I went on a journey to find true love,

and I found oceans and beach sand

and every beautiful body type

that was ever born into this world.

I went on a journey to find true love,

and I discovered myself.

And I realized that

they're one and the same.
