Journey to a matching soul

You thought you would win

And to ensure you did

You kept firing

Hoping to hit your mark

While still pretending to be a shield

But I saw quickly the truth of the situation

After all you are not the first to do so

I think you thought you won

When I stopped pretending

That you had hit your target

That you had made me sad

But it was not you

For it could have been any other

Being and I would have felt the same

My sadness was not for you

Your actions

It was that I was right

That hand

Never held a better thing

Just a weapon

To hit your mark

I am not upset that I have lost you

In fact now I am free

Because of course you are not the one

And so I turn the corners now

Not afraid to see you

But in the wonder of who

I will next meet

With hope that they will be different

After all there is nothing special about you

I have met many of you

I am looking for the rare gem

That reaches out

Not with an instrument of harm

But with a kind soul

That soul that will see what I have to offer

And not try to destroy it

But want to fight to keep it and protect it

The one that will see me and say

You are the complement of my soul

Not its enemy

Its match
