The Joy of Babysitting

Before I ring the doorbell I am greeted at the door

awaited with smiles, warm hearts, and anything but bore

They always yell my name for all to hear

even when they know I am near

As soon as they eat they are ready to play

and can not wait for the long night to stay

For them their biggest pleasure

is when we are on a hunt for treasure

Yet some days we are lost mermaids

and other days we become lost in charades

Before they head to bed they never miss a beat

on asking me if they could have just a little treat

We swiftly rush up the stairs to find Mr.Teddy Bear

even though he is always in the same chair

Once they slip under the covers

they are ready for another story about lost lovers

But before I finish the story I hear the signs of snores

I flip the switch and the night is done without any bores

As I await for their parents till dawn

I try my hardest not to yawn

At last their parents come walking in the door

and I am eager to ask if I can come back for more

Oh how I appreciate

being able to babysit.
