Judge Me
When looking at other people, try not to judge.
Yet, please look at me and judge
I am a book, bound by hand
Written by your memories
Filled to burst, our legacy
To relive the moment, take you back
Remember the times, remember the day
In our minds, we clutch on the memories
Stare at your teacher, crumpled pages in hand
They have molded your legacy
They grade your homework, which quickly comes back
An A for a paper, an ear for your problems, a compassionate judge
Keep the stories, forget the day
Reach out your hand
Cry for more time, another day
Time is deaf, an unforgiving judge
Hoarding the stories, and past memories
Stealing what you can never get back
Every second, owning another piece of your legacy
Forget your words, your bitter judge
Mark notches in the wood, one a day,
Running together, your years of a legacy
Eroding the time, two minutes behind, until one day you turn back
Scrambling for the lost memories
With time slipping from your hand
Cross your heart, swear you won’t turn back
Hope someone else takes the memories
Take a match, strike it, burn your legacy
Let go of your resolve, become your own judge
Look down at the ashes and the lines on your hand
Keep the stories, forget the day
It’s the work done for your legacy
Swear you’ll remember, but don’t ever turn back
A memory woven in time, a book bound by hand
A cover, a photo, not fit to judge.
