July (About summer days, and the truth behind them)

Summer

Mosquitoes biting

making you itch all over,

making you wonder why you ever went outside

The scent of mowed grass

fills your lungs

making you want

to bask in the sun

until the heat hits you

burning

sweltering

like fire entering your body

freedom

away from everyone

school

friends

and anyone you can't stand

with the air conditioner turned up

high as it will reach

the pools are filled

with people

trying to escape

the heat

why do we hate it

but love it

at the same time

bittersweet

like love

or a New Years Kiss

knowing it will not happen again for a while

but wanting it to end

all at once

a rush

adrenaline

you feel like your flying

freedom

but when august comes

we're back

in school

work

with people

all over again

how do we not understand

the value

of a little thing

called

summer
