June 15 1:59 A.M.

The only bullets I carry

Are the spurns I've saved up for you

And the rejection laced with venomous words

The knife hidden in my boot

Are the ink smatterings of a confession promised long ago

The sand I whirl and lob

Nothing but wounded pain

But the only target my pistol shoots

Is my torn and broken heart
