A Junior's Struggle

A Junior's Struggle

There is this thing I’d like to demolish

The thing you ask me far too often

“Have you been thinking about college?”

Sipping your coffee you hold me hostage

With a single line my breakfast you have trodden

There is this thing I’d like to demolish

You mean no harm, that I acknowledge

But tell me, have you picked out your coffin?

“You haven’t been thinking about college?”

Calmly smiling over your eggs and sausage

Anxiety bubbles up without stallin’

There is this thing I’d love to demolish

As my stress levels rise I ignore the warning bell’s knowledge

and I start to care less and less that you’re kin

“You really should be thinking about college

Asking me this question was your fatal sin

As you stare at me with pity, I swear I hear violins

There is this thing I will demolish

Please stop asking me if I’ve been thinking about college!
