a junior’s requiem

i came to you in the summer reborn

bathed in every inch

of the breathless night skies

and kissed by the bronze

of the rising star.

it was then that i met you

stolid and composed.

i took one look and saw

Nothing.

so i turned

and i inhaled every inch of you.

you entered my lungs

bit by bit.

you were cool water

i never knew i needed.

so i drank willingly.

we stayed for hours

and you filled me until

there was Nothing left.

it was then i realized

i couldn’t breathe.

yet in me you stayed.

you went for my spine

crafted by God’s own hands

and pieced together with heavenly precision.

there was none other like her.

so i twisted until she broke

and watched you devour her whole.

my hands were your next conquest.

once used to comfort and caress

i held them against me tight

and hesitated to keep them.

you ate them too

while they were still pressed against me.

you finally went for my heart

but for this – you asked.

you smiled that bloody, rotten smile

so it made me smile.

and for a moment, i thought you laughed

but you were just preparing

to eat my heart out raw.

i was lovely

so i gave you every bit of me

the flowers, riches, and my miracles.

i even served my love on a silver platter.

you still left me in the spring.

i no longer wear the sun’s clothes

or breathe the air of starry night skies.

i can’t stand alone.

and i have been left in tatters.

there is Nothing left for me.

i await the Genesis.
