Just another day

For me in the future,

You'll wake up,

to the sounds of your own breathing.

Heaving in and out

making little use of the air you have left.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Afterwards you'll try to protect your last bit of breath,

by covering your body.

With the blanket enveloping you,

you'll look like a human burrito.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Snugly burrowing into your bed sheets,

you will slowly suffocate,

under the weight of your own lungs.

Makes eyelids go limp and arms go numb.

Until a counterpart of the sun,

pierces through the veil

unraveling all

my thoughts

except

for

one

I'll tell myself,

"Just another day"
