Just Like a Fly

Wed, 10/19/2016 - 13:07 -- tmyer91

I greet the day

just like a fly.

You may ask why

Well, here I say-

A fly lives as long

as six hundred hours.

Yet gladly devours

what most would call wrong.

But why?

A fly pursues what it desires.

With a life so short

a fly will not abort.

It won’t succumb to Opinion’s pacifier.

A fly cares not

for what others think is good.

It should be understood-

a fly refuses to be wrought.

So when I greet the day

I greet a world of opportunity.

I won’t think of insecurity

I’ll think about my own way.

This is the reason I awake.

This is why life is lovely.

The ever-present opportunity

for new conquest beyond daybreak.

I greet the day

just like a fly.

If you still wonder why.

Sorry, it’s just what I say.
